John 14;15-16 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever.
Let us pray:
Lord, we know that you have sent an Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to be with us forever. Help us to learn how to make your presence real in our lives. Be with those suffering today and with those that are giving care. We lift up to you those for whom we pray out loud or silently in our hearts.......
Heavenly Father, as we remember on this Memorial Day weekend, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day, we think of how they have followed in the footsteps of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Please hold our servicemen and women in your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as they stand in the gap for our protection. We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we pray your peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives. May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in the Lord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.
Lord, be with us today as we say goodbye to Pastor Suellen. Thank you for the great times we had together in your presence. Thank you for sending her to minister to us. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to minister to her in her times of need. We know that you are always with us in good times and not so good times, in life’s up and downs. Lord, send your Holy Spirit to this congregation in this time of transition. And also be with Pastor Suellen as she takes on new and exciting challenges and opportunities.
In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN
