Opening Prayer: Let us pray: Dear Lord, we come here to worship you today as broken people in need of your mercy and forgiveness. Please fill us with your grace. Amen.
Prayers of the Church
WL: God our rock, provide a strong foundation for your church on earth. Unite her in joyful praise, service, and mission.
Reader 1: You make deserts into gardens and the wilderness into Eden. Inspire us to restore the clean and pleasant beauty of your creation.
Reader 1: You give gifts to all. Build up this faith community. Increase our generosity, compassion, and joy. Lift up from among us prophets, ministers, teachers, and leaders.
WL: You shine the light of justice on the nations. Deliver us quickly from evil, protect the defenseless and bring peace to warring lands. To those whose names come too easily to mind like Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. And to those that seem forgotten, like the Central African Republic, Darfur, and Myanmar.
Reader 2: Compassionate God, you renew our minds and transform our bodies. Wait with all who seek a cure or long for relief from chronic pain. Bring comfort and healing to all who suffer illness in spirit, mind or body, especially those whom we name before you now…PAUSE…
Reader 3: We pray for your church on earth. We pray for all those in leadership roles that they be strengthened in their calling to serve your people. We pray especially for our synod bishop Paul Erickson and our national bishop Elizabeth Eaton. Bless them with vision and wisdom.
WL: We give thanks for all who have been baptized into Jesus and now rest in the fullness of Christ’s resurrection.
WL: In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
