Opening Prayer:
Let us pray: Dear Lord, we come here to worship you today as broken people in need of your mercy and forgiveness. Please fill us with your grace. Amen.
Community Prayer:
Dear God, you have forgiven us even though we don’t deserve it. Thank you for that. Thank you for giving us your Son as a model of mercy, so that we may forgive others within our community.
Loving Lord, you have taught us to walk in your ways of mercy and peace. In this season of Lent, remind us to reflect upon those thoughts, words, and actions that we could change for the benefit of your human community. As the merciful king who forgave the debt of his servant, show us how to be merciful servants for our sisters and brothers.
Pour your healing upon all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit, especially those we name before you now ....PAUSE. Heal the hurts of our sin, and restore us all to wholeness.
Help our communities to be understanding and forgiving to communities that differ from ours. Show us how to extend your grace to all peoples. Amen.
