Dear Lord, we come here to worship you today as broken people in need of your mercy and forgiveness. Please fill us with your grace. Amen.
Jesus speaks to us still, through the burning Holy Spirit of truth. May we receive him always with thanksgiving, even when his words challenge our assumptions and our stubborn pride.
We celebrate your servant Martin Luther King, Jr, who prophesied for release of the captives and justice for all. Give us such a heart for your vision of unity that we might continue giving voice and life to his vision.
Your healing spirit has the power to restore sight to the blind and wholeness to the unwell. We lift up in prayer especially those we name before you…PAUSE.
O God, the world will not always receive your word with acceptance and enthusiasm. Give us strength to stand by the radical prophecy of the Gospel even when our voice is wildly unpopular.
Help our communities to be understanding and forgiving to communities that differ from ours. Show us how to extend your grace to all peoples. Amen.
