Opening: As we worship today, we remember our baptism and pray for the Spirit to remind us daily that we are children of God, forgiven and called to lives of service and witness in the world. Amen.
WL: As you watched over Moses, preparing him for his role in his people’s history, so guide us in our lives of faith and service. Send us helpers to point the way and speak your words of encouragement when we most need them.
Reader 1: Your work, O Lord, is carried out in reeds and rivers, bushes and mountains. All creation is useful and good and deserving of preservation. Grant us the wisdom to continue our efforts to protect and sustain the environment upon which we all depend.
Reader 2: Comfort all those who mourn the loss of children, and protect those whose families abandon or abuse them. Bring reconciliation and healing where it is most needed, and send your Spirit to those we name today before you…PAUSE….
WL: The nations persist in conflicts, and the powerful misuse of their potential to oppress others. For our shortsighted mistreatment of our fellow humans, forgive us O Lord, and teach us a better way.
